 Last summer, Mary and her classmates had an excursion to the countryside. They went to visit a farm on 
which Mary’s uncle worked. They left early in the morning and took a bus there. Mary’s uncle met them at the 
bus station and took them to the farm. On the way, he showed them the field of rice, wheat, maize, potatoes and 
sweet potatoes.
After lunch, they all went for a walk. They saw some farm machines and tractors in a large yard of the farm.

them about the differences between the life of people in the country and in the city. After having some fresh 
milk and cakes, they all felt very excited and said goodbye to him and went back home.

comprehension practice at any time of day or night. TV and video can also provide almost everyone with good
